i. it's suggest you use word wrap when reading this readme

ii. the third update includes many updates with building destructoin, including you are now able to destroy a refinery, and a vespeen will be in the rubble, no longer....just....plain rubble...
and you can destroy nuc silos and comsats (whoops)
most importantly, you can (must) you xLib v0.601b . this allows you to ARCHIVE PIC5 IN ORDER TO SAVE ROOM. ITS OK, GO AHEAD AND ARCHIVE IT, IT WONT BITE. that'll give you some extra 767k. have fun.

iii.the next installment, Protoss, is finished and the AI is in development.

First and foremost, i would like to thank you for the downloading of this game.
Second, i would like to say that i tried to keep the game closest to the real thing, and i would like to appologize for anything i left out, mainly the starbases, armories, and science facilities. If you know how to play the real deal, this will be easy for you to understand. if you have never playd StarCraft, go out and by it. it is one of the oldest RTS's that is still in major play. its worth it. and sorry for this last fact(s): this is a TBS (turn based strategy), it is in 2-player mode only (no room for AI), and there is a save feature, but is kinnda lame and wasnt worth the fuss to enhance (so basically you can quit the game, change your money, then re-enter the game), but, w/e, my next installment will be protoss, and WILL have AI, and will not be able to be hackd. it will be better mainly cause there is 3-ways to attack in terran mode, and only one way in protoss. more ways to attack = memory drain. so protoss will have not as mush memory drain. it will have AI. Dont worry, it'll be easy.

Lastly: its best to have an 84+SE, mainly for the processor speed. i playd it on a 83+, and it works just as good.... but slow... so hope for the best if still in the 83+ stage...lol

I. Intro

The object of the game is to destroy all of the opposing player's buildings.

Memory consumption: it takes 24000 total RAM to run smoothly
				     14232 RAM for the game
				     767 RAM for Pic5
and about 5500-6000 RAM for varialbes (matrxies lists letters etc)
that should leave you with 2800-3500 RAM: thats perfect. if its under 2000, delect some achive stuff, cuz that consumes the RAM. the game will make the variable all by itself, dont worry. the first time you play you will have 8000 or so, but the game will make variables pushing it down to 3000 RAM. thats fine just leave it.

To play, you must send the program STARCRFT, the picture Pic5, and the APPS xLib to your calc. you will then go to the apps xLib, hit enter, then hit 1 to enable. it will confirm that action. then hit 3 to quit. WARNING: if you have Omnicalc and go to ANY of its menues, you MUST re-enable xLib, because their real( commands get confussed.if you are tryn to play the game and you get a"ERR:ARGUMENT" and it goes to a command in the game that is a "real(" command, then re-enable xLib. make sure you delet all graphing equations before you play.

DO NOT QUIT AT ANY POINT IN THE GAME EXCEPT THROUGHT THE EXIT OR QUIT MENUES IN THE GAME. IT WILL MESS UP THE VARIABLE SYSTEM. THAT = CURRUPT GAME.

Commands: 2nd-always hit it to confirm or continue onwards
DEL-hit to always go back from ANYTHING. even while attacking or building, hit it to go back
mode-hit while in YOUR map view to end turn
Y= - hit on the main title screen on main menu to decrease the contrast
GRAPH - hit to increase the contrast

when you start a new game, you will be asked to place your Command Center next to a mineral field. place it on anything BUT a tree or rubble. it wont allow you to place it anywhere else. all maps are random. you get what you get. stop complaining.

II.Game play

   A. main menu
stats - stats on upgrades and troops
Your map- this is your map go to it to give commands to buildings to build a troop, to fill a bunker or to comsat.
Enemy's map - issue scout and attack commands
Help - see your building stats and what they look like (if you get confussed)
save/exit - saves and exits. load game next time to continue

B.the building of troops and buildings

to build a troop, go to your map, move the cursor over the building, hit 2nd. hit del to go back. you may not be able to make a troop for three reasons: not enough money, not enough gas, not enough supply. if you try and build a guy, and nothing happens, check that stuff and work from there. marines, firebats, and ghosts are built (if tech tree deems it) in the barracks. vulters and tanks are built in the factory. SCVs are built in the Command Center (CC).
Nucs are built in the nuc silo. machine shop upgrades siege mode, academy updrades cloak, and engineering bay upgrades attack and aromor. click on comsat to use a radar. each radar sweep requires E:50, or 50 energy.+8E per turn. when building anything, hit the number that corresponds to the item you are building. when you build the building or use it to train a troop or to upgrade, the building will say "busy". so you cant use the same building twice per turn.

*note* there is a tech tree: barracks- require a command center
                                     bunker,academy,engineering bay- require a barracks
                                     a factory,comsat,nuc silo- requires academey
a machine shop- requires a factory

                                     1: marines require barracks
                                     1: firebats require academy
                                     2: ghosts require nuc silo
                                     2: vultures require factory
2: tanks require an attached machine shop
all units have a supply worth, and that is what the number is next to the unit mentioned above. your supply limit is accessd through the stats menu. when you buy a marine, your supply increase by one, a ghost by 2, etc. your max can be increased by two ways: a command center adds ten to your max, and a supply depo. adds to your max by eight. you can not upgrade if your supply is above your max i.e. your enemy destroys a CC.

to build a building, you must have a CC, at least one. you click on it and hit 2. you will then come up with a screen. hit the corresponding numbers. all units, troops and buildings alike, have 2 numbers after their names. the first is the amount of minerals they take up, the second is the gas they use. you must remember the supply number, however. if ALL requirements are meet the building of your choice will pop up on your map, flashing. you must place it down on anything but rubble or trees. *note* add-ons must be placed to the RIGHT of the buildings. Comsat and nucs go next to the CC, and the machine shop goes next to the factory. add-ons are special because you CAN build them on rubble or trees. be carefull where you place CC and factories: think about their addons, first. *note* you are only allowd one nuc silo and one comsat, but many machines shops. You are only allowed 4 Command centers. think wisly. build bunkers next to important builings, AND FILL THEM UP WITH 4 MARINES ONLY. filld bunkers will protect you in defence.
*note* you must build a refinery on top of a vespeen gyser. the gysers are located under minerals... usually.

	C. Attack and scout

to attack, you must have an entry point. if you have more than one entry point, the computer will choose the one closest to your base (the relationship in refferance to your base and to your enemy's, you will acually never know). to find a entry point, you must scout. scouting uses a SCV. it may die, so watch out. you can only scout as far as you have scouted thus far. that goes for attacking, also. you can only attack what you can see. usually =P. once your SCVs have found a building for you to later attack, and you have built your troops up, you are ready to attack. carefull of Fog-of-War. Just beacuse you scouted a space earlier, doesnt mean there isnt a building there now.... i.e. a bunker.

when you attack you have 3 options: Storm-send units out. this is your main attack. it easy to use, and requires nothing but raw material like marines and firebats. use left and right to move the number of your attack force up and down. hit 2nd to finish choice. then chose where you attack. then hit enter, and watch the battle unfold.
the attacker's units are labled under A, and defenders units are under D. if you are attacker, hit DEL to escape. if you win, there is little chance to destroy the building. this is mainly to clear the enemy's troops.

SIEGE- requires atleast one attack tank and the 'siege' upgrade. choose attack force, then chose attack point. THEN you may use the tank's ability
to fire even further by one square. this attack method has very low, low, defence. it will die if the defender has many troops. that is what storming their base was supposed to get rid of. BUT, siege is a garentee building smasher... if you win.

nuc- the most expensive way to kill. not only do you need a ghost, but you need a ready nuc. AND, to increase the chance of succes, you must upgrade cloak. if cloak is not upgraded, your ghost will most surely die. a nuc attack gets 2 spaces of extra attack range... if you attack any less then the extra 2 spaces, your ghost will die from being too close to the explostion. this is a garentee building killer. hands down... but is expensive.
III. Misc.

SCVs are automatic. they mine minerals and gas on their own. just build them.

if your CC is attackd, your SCVs will die. be carefull of that.

for the most part, you will be informd of an attack, but not all attacks if multiple. check your stats frequently.

your minerals are directly related to the # of SCVs and CCs. think carefully why you start with 400... *wink wink*

gas is directly related to SCVs and refineries that you have. 0 refineries= 0 gas

everything takes one turn to build, train, upgrade. everything.

if you are scouting and you come across a mineral field... think carefully what is most likely NEXT to it... hint hint

IV. Closing comments

as i said before, this is only the first version. i intend to upgrade. but not alot, for the plain reason that i am making the protoss version. there is no chance of a RTS or link, or both. the memory consumption would be astonomical. however, i was thinking of making a starCraft series where you link with a friend, choose your race by the prgm you use, and battle that way. it was interesting, because it allowed the use of all three races. but i havent tested how the link system works yet. oh well w/e

if you need advice, like "whats wrong with my damn calc and y wont it play the game", then email me at "seeleleid@hotmail.com". or if you have comments or such.

i have seen many StarCraft games out for the calc. i beleive this to be the most advanced and finished version, and the graphics are smooth and esay to read, and most importantly, FAST GRAPHICS.

thanks for playing

this uses a AsmLibrary, so there is a chance, if you messed with my variables, that your calc will mess up. it will not (hopefully) restart/clear mem, but if it does, its your own damn fault for messing with my stuff, so plz dont do it. i highly dought that xLib can do any of that... but stranger stuff has happend. lol

V.saving

there is a trick i like to use, and this works for a popular game i like to play also, called WIZARDS. listen closely

if you want multiple save files, save L1-L6,LN and LA if they exist, [A]-[F], and variable B, into a GROUP. name the group w/e you want, idc. but when you want to play a save file, delet those variables in the RAM, and ungroup that starcraft saved file group. then play SC, then chose load. if you left the game in the first place through save, then it should work.

you can do the same with the WIZARDS game too. save the appvar WizSav1 and a random variable (that is because all groups need two things, so you gota choose sumtin) into a GROUP. start a new file if you want... but then ungroup your saved file when needed....this way you can have as many diff files that you want at once, saved in group format. just a few things i learn over the years... lol have fun

VI.credits

id like to thank Sue bob for major bug finds
for the creators and programmers of xLib
and for Kevin Oullet, just because he's so damn cool and introduced me to the power of the original xlib. indirectly that is.... his games... oh the power....
